Vision Group Update
From Church Moderator, Calvin Hall:
Greetings! Time seems to be flying by and we have turned the corner to what I hope is a spectacular fall season.
A few weeks ago Pastor Tim submitted his resignation and we are quickly coming up on his last Sunday with us. I know some of you have been curious as to where things stand in terms of the process to fill the Pulpit for the short and long term. Let me provide you with this update.
The Lay Worship Committee has been working to see that we have pulpit coverage through the end of December and there has been success! Through a mixture of visiting leadership and lay leadership we are set for this period. Thanks to Jennifer Gillis-White for her leadership.
On Tuesday evening a diverse group of volunteers gathered to begin discussing where we go from here. Those participating in person and via zoom included myself, Paul Barrett, Laura Martin, Sara Harvey, Terry Kelly, Erin Marquis, and Roberta Griffiths. (With technical assistance provided by Melissa Vance) The “vision group” as I call them, spent time learning about the steps forward and discussing what it is that we want to see in our future. It was a thoughtful and productive discussion. We meet again on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.
I have been working with the Maine Conference, UCC on ideas and plans to search for an Interim Pastor to serve us while we look for a settled Pastor. They are two different, but similar processes and I am still learning about the many steps we need to take. There are many moving parts and it is likely to take more time than we would like.
I plan to offer updates as often as I can through this process. Please read your emails and watch the news section of our new website. If you at any time have questions or want to share thoughts, please email me at chall001@maine.rr.com. You can also reach me by phone at 207-551-4086.
Yours in faith,
Calvin Hall, Moderator
