Faith Formation

A faithful, faith-filled life is a journey of discovery. Guided by Scriptures and the wisdom of our forebears, in the daily practices of life and the rituals of our faith communities — through programs of worship, music ministry, mission projects, learning and study at all age levels, and times of fellowship — we create opportunities to learn and practice a God-shaped life. Faith formation is a life-long process in which we rehearse a way of life that Jesus has shown us. Our programs are focused on children and youth and adults learning separately, as well as all generations learning together.

Faith formation for the whole church was at the heart of our Open and Affirming discernment process in 2021. It was an extended period of study, deep personal and group reflection, discussion, and decision-making about our desire to make a stronger public witness for radical welcome and inclusion in the life of our church.

For Children and Youth

September through June, our children and young people begin in worship with their families, then gather with their age group after a brief kid-based message.

PreK-Grade 2 young learners experience stories from the Bible, simple craft projects, games, and free play.

A nursery will be staffed each week starting at 9:45 am. Families are always welcome to keep their children with them in worship.

For Adults

Faith formation experiences are an organic part of our ongoing Sunday gathering for worship and prayer.

Thoughout the year, we frequently share video and text-based resources for personal reflection and prayer on our Facebook page and in our Weekly Update email newsletter. Sign up for the email newsletter on our Home page.

Watch for notice of future offerings on our website and social media platforms.

For All Ages

Some of our young people and adults have also found summer spiritual nurture and growth at Pilgrim Lodge, our Maine Conference UCC church camp — even helping out with the pre-season clean-up!
