Do Unto Others
Introducing Do Unto Others
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
– Matthew 7:12
Last week (Sept 1), in this newsletter and in the digital worship, there was a soft introduction to Do Unto Others, A Campaign for Kindness that we are excited to bring to our community!
This campaign is an invitation to consider how we want to be treated, and how we treat others, even those with whom we disagree. The Golden Rule—“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”—is a call to treat others with the same kindness we would want to receive in return. Yet during an election season, division and polarity often take center stage. We can choose a better way.
What’s possible when our community leans into kindness? Join us as we come together to find out! Let’s cast a “vote” for kindness, one small act at a time. #DoUntoOthers
Do Unto Others is a grassroots movement launched by Resurrection, a United Methodist Church in the Kansas City area, to encourage people to be intentional about treating one another with kindness, overcoming the polarization in our country through civility and respect.
In coming weeks, we’ll be sharing information and resources from this movement in this weekly newsletter and on our Facebook page. You can also follow the links on this page to access the campaign resources.
While there will be hints and echoes of Do Unto Others kindness campaign materials in our worship services, including some content created by Marcia McFee (Worship Design Studio), there will not be a sermon series like we shared in July and August.
The content we will share is certainly for your personal reflection. We also hope that with these resources, through prayer and worship, and an adult study group (coming soon online) we can reflect together, in community, about how we can live together with civility and respect in challenging times.
