Actions of the 2024 Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of The Presque Isle Congregational Church, United Church of Christ was held following the worship service on Sunday, January 28, 2024. In addition to the ordinary business of accepting reports about the 2023 work of our Church Council and Ministries, financial reports, remembering members who died in the past year, and thanking those who had served in leadership roles, several actions were taken regarding our ministry in 2024:

• Approved 2024 Proposed Program and Expense Budget - with understanding that anticipated 2024 pledge income had not yet been determined.

• Approved motion to create “a joint committee to explore the process and possibility of collaborative ministries between the Presque Isle Congregational Church, UCC and United Parish Church of Fort Fairfield.”

• Approved motion “to engage in periodic worship and spiritual development between the Presque Isle Congregational Church, UCC and the United Parish Church of Fort Fairfield with the intention of strengthening our communities and relationships.”

• Approved motion “to authorize the PIUCC Church Council to sell the parsonage property should the Council deem that to be the best option for and in the best interest of the congregation.”

• Approved nominations of officers and ministry chairpersons:

• Moderator — Susan Morrill

• Clerk — Ginette Rivard

• Treasurer — Claude Brissette (temporary)

• Assistant Treasurer — Sara Harvey

• Property & Finance Ministry — Steven Vance

• Welcome & Care Ministry — Christine Standefer

• Lay Worship Ministry — Jennifer Gillis-White

• Digital Ministry — Robert Grove-Markwood

Members and friends on our mailing lists will receive updates about the process for our exploratory conversation with United Parish Church as the Church Council creates the “joint committee” and they begin meeting. We will also post updates on our website.

The Stewardship/Pledge Drive — More information will be shared in the coming week (Feb 4) regarding our annual request for financial support of our church budget.
