Annual Meeting 2024
Our church’s Annual Meeting is a time to reflect on the past year, plan financially and programmatically for the coming year, elect leaders, and celebrate our life together in community.
While this meeting satisfies a legal requirement of incorporation, it is more importantly a moment for us to determine how we will follow faithfully where the Spirit leads. In this year’s meeting we will consider whether the Spirit is leading us to some form of shared ministry with the United Parish Church of Fort Fairfield.
The United Church of Christ’s motto is: “That they may all be one” (John 17:21). This reflects our belief that we are called to be a united and uniting church.
— A Proposal to Explore Collaborative Ministry
Earlier this week, an email was sent to members and friends of our church with important information about two motions that will come before the church at our annual meeting to be held on Sunday, January 28, following the worship service.
The email contained a letter from our Moderator Calvin Hall, with our Church Council’s action in light of a letter from the Rev. Dr. Diane Langworthy, pastor of United Parish Church of Fort Fairfield which shared their church’s desire to explore a partnership with our church.
Diane’s letter offers some concrete suggestions for ways our two congregations might collaborate for mutual benefit. Calvin’s letter shares two motions from the Church Council to explore the possibilities for partnering with the United Parish Church by creating a joint committee for discussion and planning, and to begin engaging in some shared ministry activities. A third motion concerns the possible sale of the parsonage.
